Fundraising

ASR raises funds mainly in the UK, through a variety of methods. We have an active fundraising team – the trustees owe much to the support of two regular volunteers: Mrs Faranak Moscrop (Fundraising Coordinator) and Mr Jagtar Singh Ajimal (Events Organiser).

Volunteers and trustees have competed in running events in the UK, raising significant amounts of sponsorship for ASR. In 2012, three people undertook sponsored runs, three completed runs in May 2013 and another two in September 2014, with further two in 2015 and one sponsored hike in 2016. In March-April 2013, Saj Prabhakar and Ian Worrall undertook a 3500km sponsored cycling event across India in aid of ASR. Click here for further information.

Catering services are provided by the trustees and volunteers for local functions in return for donations. ASR has also held several of its own fundraising dinners in Manchester, UK.

Car washes and other events are held at Gurdwaras (Sikh temples) throughout the UK. This is how ASR started fundraising. A Sukhmani Sahib Paath & Kirtan event was held in August 2014 at Gurdwara Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji in Manchester, where in August 2012, ASR organised an ‘Akhand Paath’.
